North Bay's Shirantha Beddage gave the city something huge to brag about this past week as he won Galaxie Rising Star award at the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal (Montreal Jazz Fest).
Beddage, a baritone saxophonist, took the prize, after knocking the socks of the judges, for his compositions Baker's Dozen and Winds of Change from his new album 'Identity'.
