During a recent media tour of the city’s business parks Mayor Al McDonald told reporters that singing the city’s successes is something they haven’t done very well to date but says that is about to change.

He says they city has a diverse and thriving manufacturing sector that has been a well-kept secret and it is the city’s plan to sing their praises in order to entice other industrial, commercial and residential development to the area.

McDonald says there are great things happening behind the scenes and those stories need to be out in the community.

He proudly promoted Miller Technology as one of the city’s success stories during the tour.

Vice President of Operations Chad Miller says the city has supported the business through its growing pains from a garage-based company to the cutting edge global equipment supplier it is now.

The shop, which employs 60 people, is located on Eloy Road and designs and manufactures innovative mining equipment and is in the final development of the “Miller Max” an underground mining vehicle which is completely designed and manufactured in the Bay. They are also research and development stages of an electric battery powered vehicle for underground.

Miller says although it would be easier to be located in Sudbury for business purposes but North Bay offers a nice pace of living and business support that can’t be rivalled.
