Two city men charged following scuffle in McKeown Ave area

On Saturday the 6th of July 2013 at approximately 11:50 p.m. police responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of McKeown Avenue and McNamara Street.

Police found that two males were involved in an altercation and one male had cut the other in the hand with a broken bottle.

Police arrested a 27 year old male and charged him with assault with a weapon, assault and possession of a controlled substance.

During the investigation it was discovered that the victim of the assault was breaching conditions imposed on him from a previous and unrelated matter.

Officers placed the second male under arrest, at which time he broke away and fled on foot.

The 19 year old male was located after a brief foot chase and charged with breach of recognizance and escape lawful custody.

Both males were held in custody and will appear in court at a future date.
