Orillia - The Ontario Provincial Police, “OPP Bound 2013” – An Initiative to Recruit Women has begun. Fifty-five (55) qualified women are attending the Ontario Provincial Police Academy in Orillia to explore a career with the Ontario Provincial Police.

“OPP Bound 2013” is a 3 ½ day recruitment camp being held at the Provincial Police Academy from July 6-9, 2013 in Orillia, Ontario.

Participants are learning about the history and traditions of the OPP, including a number of mentoring sessions with female officers and civilian employees who will be sharing their experiences. Participants are having the opportunity to experience the life of an OPP recruit at the Academy, taking part in exercises, fitness drills, police vehicle operations and other practical exercises.

The media are invited to attend to speak to members of the OPP and the OPP Bound 2013 participants on Tuesday, July 9th, 2013 at approximately 12:00pm.

The OPP is hosting “Public Street” which includes numerous specialty units within the OPP. An OPP Canine demonstration will take place at approximately 2:00 pm.
