Widdifield Secondary School’s Free the Children group hosted its 6th Annual International Dinner on May 15, 2013 in the school cafeteria. The event was a huge success!

Widdifield alumnus Sol Mason cooked a phenomenal three-course meal for over 200 guests, with a vegetarian, vegan, and child option. Guests enjoyed an art auction, a cartoon booth, a fashion booth, a henna booth, a silent auction, and live entertainment complete with dancing, singing, and music by some very talented students.

"The annual dinner is always a magical and incredible experience for me. There are just so many wonderful people behind this event. Its great success is made possible by hours of planning and I'm honored to be a part of such a dedicated and caring team,” said student body president and member of Free the Children Katie Fettes.

“The community support is overwhelming. I love feeling the energy of good people coming together for a single cause."

Proceeds from the Asian-themed dinner, totaling over $5000.00, are going to Free the Children's new Food and Agriculture Security Project in rural China.

The Agriculture and Food Security Project is one of five pillars of Free the Children's Adopt a Village program. The program is designed to meet all of the requirements to not only lift a village out of poverty, but also to provide education and alternative income to assist the community in becoming independent and self-sustaining.
