Radar detector in vehicle results in several charges

TEMAGAMI - While on patrol on June 9, 2013 at approximately 8:30 p.m., a member of the Temagami Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle on Highway 11 that was believed to have a radar detector.

During Police investigation a 42-year-old occupant in the vehicle continued to obstruct police.

Driver, Tania CATHERWOOD 41 of Hamilton is charged for Smoke Tobacco in Prohibited place or area section 9(2) of the Smoke-Free Ontario Act and Drive Motor Vehicle with Speed Measuring Warning Device section 79(2) of the Highway Traffic Act.

Passenger, James BOBOR of Stoney Creek is charged for Obstruct a Peace Officer section 129(a) of the Criminal Code. He is to attend Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on July 16, 2013.
