Join us, Thursday, June 20th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm to help us put in another demonstration rain garden. Greening Nipissing, in partnership with the North Bay Mattawa Conservation Authority, is excited to host this hands-on workshop where you’ll learn about what rain gardens are, how they help us manage stormwater runoff and how to build one on your own property.

The workshop fee is $25.00 per participant and will be taking place along the Chippewa Creek Eco Path between Bunyan St, Queen St and Memorial Drive (adjacent to Amelia Park).

A rain garden is a planted depression that diverts stormwater from our lakes and rivers and allows it to soak into the ground and be purified naturally.

Stormwater is any rainwater that has fallen on impervious urban surfaces, such as driveways, sidewalks, roofs, and parking lots. This stormwater picks up pollutants such as salts, heavy metals, and petroleum products from vehicles. Rain gardens prevent this polluted rainwater from reaching our lakes and rivers.
