The 547 Canuck Royal Canadian Air Cadets will be winding down soon for yet another successful training year. On the 17h of June, 2013 we will be holding an early recruiting drive - open house at Leo Martin Troy Armoury – 540 Chippewa St W, North Bay between 6-8pm.

If you’re 12 or older, want to meet friends and try something new, then we have just the thing for you. What do Air Cadets do? The Air Cadet Training Program provides a wide range of activities and training to meet the interests of cadets.

New recruits begin their training with Drill and General Cadet Knowledge, giving them a knowledge of the origin of the cadet movement and its development; an understanding of the rank structure; and an appreciation for the care of uniform. Cadets also participate in subjects such as Citizenship, Physical Fitness, Leadership, Aircraft Identification, Aeronautical Facilities, Airframes, Aircrew Survival, and Range/Shooting.

In addition, 547 Canuck Squadron offers the following programs: Flying Scholarship (Ground School for cadets +15yrs), Flag Party, Military Marching Band, Air Rifle and Marksmanship Teams, Biathlon Team, Drill Team, Orienteering Team, Remote Control Aircraft Club, Debating Team and Public Speaking Team. It is a fun, friendly & safe environment.

Cadets participates in a number of community service activities, sports, citizenship activities and weekend field exercises throughout the year. Cadets also have the opportunity to experience both powered and non-powered (glider) familiarization flying. Cadets joining prior to 31 January of a training year are eligible for summer training.

We wish to welcome anyone interested in joining Air Cadets to come on to register your child for the 2013-2014 training year or obtain more information about joining Air Cadets.

If interested in joining you must provide the Squadron with a photocopy of their Medical/Health Card and a photocopy of their birth certificate. An application form must be completed and signed by a parent/legal guardian. There is no fee for joining Air Cadets.

Young people 12 to 18 years of age may enroll in cadets. We parade every Monday night from 6:00-9:00pm (September to June) at the Troy Armoury on Chippewa St., North Bay.

The aim of the cadet organization is to develop in youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership; promote physical fitness; and stimulate an interest in the activities of the Canadian Forces. Our local unit is sponsored by the Air Cadet League of Canada in partnership with the Canadian Forces and our sponsor 406 Squadron.
