MAAC applauds new walk button at Algonquin & Sherriff Ave.

The North Bay Municipal Heritage Committee would like to congratulate the Ontario Ministry of Transportation for helping to make the City more accessible through the installation of an accessible walk button at the Algonquin Avenue and Sherriff Avenue intersection.

The button was previously located on an existing pole (above, left) and was separated from the sidewalk by a curb, making it difficult for some community members to find or reach it. The Ministry of Transportation, through discussions with MAAC, has relocated the walk button to a free standing pole (above, right) where it can be easily accessed by all members of the community. MAAC would like to thank the Ministry of Transportation for their efforts to make the intersection more accessible and safe.

North Bay's Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee is made up of a number of community members and advises City Council on matters pertaining to accessibility in North Bay.
