Annual 'Soaps It Up' charity car wash goes Friday

CARSTAR North Bay will be making a splash on Friday, June 7, joining nearly 70 stores across the country in celebrating the tenth annual Soaps It Up charity car wash to support Cystic Fibrosis Canada.


For ten years, CARSTAR has been providing support to Cystic Fibrosis Canada by making cars across the country sparkle and shine. Over the past decade, Soaps it Up has achieved several significant milestones, including: helping to raise $2-million for Cystic Fibrosis Canada; setting a Guinness World Record for the largest car wash in 2009 and again in 2011; and creating the country’s first Dirty Car Art Exhibit to inspire hope across the country and support the search for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.


This year, funds raised at CARSTAR North Bay location will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis Canada, as well as The Gathering Place, North Bay’s local Soup Kitchen, as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to support the communities where CARSTAR owners and employees live, work and serve. Canadians can participate by purchasing a ticket for a minimum donation of just $5. As part of the 10-year anniversary celebrations, two lucky Canadians who purchase car wash ticketswill win the opportunity to attend one of the top ten celebrations in the world such as Oktoberfest in Munich, St. Patrick’s Day In Dublin, New Years Eve in New York and La Tomatina in Spain.


Cystic Fibrosis is a multi-system disease that affects mainly the lungs and the digestive system and is the most common fatal genetic disease that affects Canadian children and young adults. Each week in Canada, two children are diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and one person dies from the disease. There is no cure. Ultimately, most CF-related deaths are due to lung disease.
