In April 2013 The Montreal Police Service dismantled a synthetic drug manufacturing operation and seized a large quantity of synthetic drug tablets that included 10,000 Desmethyl Fentanyl which is a derivative of Fentanyl and is 40 times more powerful than Heroin. In addition, police seized 48,000 methamphetamine tablets bearing the Tim Hortons logo, and other tablets bearing the Facebook logo.

Counterfeit prescription drugs such as Viagra and Cialis were also being produced for sale on the black market.

On April 30th 2013 the North Bay Street Crime Unit arrested a man in North Bay In possession of 411 methamphetamine tablets of which 398 were similar to the Facebook logo tablets and 9 were similar to the Tim Horton logo tablets. Given the similarity with these tablets, there is a strong likelihood of Desmethyl Fentanyl appearing in North Bay.

Since 2007 North Bay has had numerous deaths and hospitalized overdoses that have been directly attributed to Fentanyl abuse.

The North Bay Police are issuing a caution about this potential threat.

All of these tablets are similar in shape and size to Pez candy and parents should be aware that they can be concealed in a Pez dispenser.

Any tablet with a popular logo on it, not purchased at a store or pharmacy should be considered dangerous.

All of these drugs are produced under very poor conditions with a lot of different chemicals.

The effects could be fatal.
