On May 8-11, 2013, Almaguin Highlands Secondary School’s Tartan Theatre group travelled to Hamilton to participate in the All Ontario’s Sears Drama Festival. Their play, “Lessons of Childhood” was one of eleven shows that participated in this event. This is the second time in four years that Almaguin has made it to the All Ontario level.

"To be the only school representing the north at Provincials was an amazing experience," said grade 12 student Robynne Trueman.

"It was incredible going to Hamilton for All Ontario’s. I made friends from other schools, went to some excellent workshops and saw some truly wonderful plays," said grade 12 student Josiah Fincham.

Students took part in workshops, social events and had an opportunity to see the best of Ontario high school theatre.
"To be involved in an experience like this and to learn from others, showcase our talents and grow as people was a high school experience that we will all remember for the rest of our lives," shared grade 12 student Kim Gilbert.

The festival was adjudicated by actor Terry Tweed, who awarded Almaguin Highlands with an Award of Excellence for the entire Acting Ensemble. Student Sandi Robertson was presented with the Outstanding Stage Manager Award.
