Ecole St-Raymond shines at the 7th annual ‘Franco-Ontarien’ Provincial Chess Tournament hosted in Haileybury from May 2 to 4, 2013. Ecole St-Raymond was well represented by 11 students.



Leading the way was 11 year old Evan Kilroy who won all of his matches and brought home a gold medal. Following suit was 8 year olds Jacob Guillemette and Mark-Andre Beaudet both with silver medals and 10 year old Brandon Oas with a bronze medal. As a result; all four students have qualified for the Canadian Youth Chess Championship hosted in Ottawa from July 10 to 13, 2013.



Other first time participants at a Provincial Tournament are: Sheldon Kilroy, Joel Beaudet, Tommy Levasseur, Courtney Wilson, Jordan Oas, Ryan Oas and Cameron Oas.



Some students also participated in additional ‘Blitz’ and ‘Siamese’ tournaments; Evan Kilroy achieved a silver medal in the blitz tournament.



A special mention to Cameron Oas who had his 5th birthday during the tournament.
