Flood watch for Lake Nipissing remains in effect

The Ministry of Natural Resources is reminding area residents that a flood watch for Lake Nipissing and a flood warning for the French River remain in effect. The recent flood warning for the Sturgeon River has been downgraded to a flood watch.



Water levels continue to decrease in Lake Nipissing; however levels remain above normal for this time of year. Localized flooding due to wind is still a possibility depending on strength and direction.



The French River system continues to experience high water levels, and flooding in low-lying areas is still a possibility.



Water levels in the Sturgeon River system continue to decrease.



The ministry continues to advise area residents to take necessary action to protect property in flood-prone areas, and exercise caution around fast-flowing rivers.



Forecast precipitation may affect water levels.



MNR is closely monitoring the weather and developing watershed conditions. Further updates will be issued as appropriate throughout the week.
