Deceased Identified in fatal Hwy 17 motor vehicle collision

On May 8, 2013 at 4:32 pm, members of the Mattawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway #17 near McMartin Rd in Papineau-Cameron Township.

The investigation has revealed that a head on collision occurred as a result of an east bound S.U.V. making an unsafe pass, consequently colliding with a west bound tractor trailer unit. The driver of the S.U.V. was pronounced dead at the scene by an attending coroner. He has been identified as 26 year old Guillaume PEDNEAULT originally from Quebec currently working in the Yukon area. The driver of the tractor trailer unit was transported to hospital with minor injuries and has since been released.
