St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Grade 10 student Nicholas Waltenbury has been appointed as one of 63 students from across the province to sit on the 2013-2014 Minister’s Student Advisory Council.

The Minister’s Student Advisory Council meets with Minister Liz Sandals twice during their term, can form subcommittees on topics of interest to them, and can participate in other student forums, events or conference to discuss student-related issues. The council also provides:

 Ongoing student perspectives, advice, recommendations, and consultations on the Ministry of Education’s policies, programs and practices;

 Advice and feedback on the activities related to the Ministry’s student engagement activities; and,

 Feedback on student-focused communications strategies and products, such as websites, brochures, pamphlets and DVD clips.

During Nicholas’s term, he will learn about strategic planning and the formation of government policy, programs and practices.

Nicholas will also be serving as the Student Trustee representative on the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District Schools Board for the 2013-2014 term.
