Female charged with fail to yield following MVC

NORTH BAY - On May 6th, 2013 at approximately 3:00 pm members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two vehicle personal injury collision on Hwy 17 just west of North Bay involving a motorcycle and a pick-up truck.

A 49 year old male was operating a motorcycle east bound on Hwy 17 when a west bound pick-up truck being operated by a 22 year old female slowed to turn left off the highway. The pick-up truck collided with the east bound motorcycle. As a result of this preventable crash, the 49 year old male suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area Hospital by Ambulance. The operator of the truck was not injured.

As a result of this investigation the 22 year old female has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act (Fail to Yield to Traffic on a through Highway).

The OPP would like to remind all motorists to always pay attention to your surroundings and be aware of increased motorcycle traffic as the warm weather arrives.
