Leaders surrounding Lake Nipissing will be coming together again for the 2nd Annual Lake Nipissing Summit to be held at Canadore College May 9-10, 2013. With a full house anticipated, people from all over the region have registered to attend the event.

Just over two years ago, leaders gathered to form the vision for the summit, "Lake Nipissing, our great lake, is a cherished source of nature’s abundance and beauty.
Together, we promise to protect this gift and to ensure future generations inherit a healthy, sustainable environment."

The goal of the two-day event is to raise awareness of the issues concerning the lake and build on suggestions that were brought forward at the 2012 Summit. It is an
important, and complex, issue and the hope is that by fostering an open dialogue between all stakeholders will achieve common goals to protect this valued resource.
The first day, May 9, consists of a recap of what has been done since the last summit and well-respected guest speakers will provide some additional background information on the lake. This will set the groundwork for participants as they move into day two.

On day two, May 10, participants will hear from an expert plenary panel discussing the future of Lake Nipissing from their perspective. This courageous dialogue will lead us
into a general discussion using the ‘World Café’ format. The set up provides all participants a voice in the conversation towards improving the future of Lake Nipissing.

Participants are divided into small groups that travel from table to table to discuss the issues. A note taker documents the conversation and, in the end, main themes surface, ideas are formed and accountability is shared.

Both days will be held at the Canadore Room at Canadore College and registratio is available online at www.lakenipissingsummit.ca or by calling Tina at 705-476-5044.

There is no charge to attend and lunch will be provided both days. Anyone with an interest in the lake is encouraged to attend.

All are welcomed.
