'We can give our children a bright future right here in Ontario,' Fedeli

The way out of the jobs and debt crisis created by the Liberals will take a new team with a new plan and the courage to lead us back onto the right track for Ontario, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli said today.

Fedeli’s comments follow Thursday’s 2013 Liberal budget that, as expected, increases spending and the debt, and entrenches the damaging anti-jobs policies of the McGuinty-Wynne era.

“Half a million of our friends, neighbours and relatives struggling to find work need a serious plan to grow our economy,” Fedeli said. “The Liberals are treating this like a game, fishing for NDP support. We PCs choose to remain focused on solutions to Ontario’s enormous jobs and economic problems.”

Ontario can do so much better, Fedeli stressed.

“But we need to change the direction of our province. For that to happen, we need to change the team that leads it.”

The lack of any mention of the Ring of Fire in the Finance Minister’s budget speech shows it’s not a priority for the McGuinty-Wynne Liberals, and the fact the budget doesn’t address the half-billion dollar hole in their ONTC accounting is appalling, Fedeli added.

“In fact, Northern Ontario was only mentioned twice in the speech in passing,” noted Fedeli, who added the choice we face is between continuing down the same path that has us struggling to keep up, or to take a new path that leads to a strong, confident and prosperous Ontario.

“Every dollar paid in interest on the Liberals’ huge debt is money that won’t go to schools, hospitals or new investments in our transportation networks. The government has only made the problem worse through scandal, waste and reckless overspending.”

By contrast, only the Ontario PCs have a plan that includes ideas to compete for jobs, lower taxes, control hydro rates, and for a government that lives within its means, Fedeli said.

“We can give our children a bright future right here in Ontario. So let’s not wait any longer – let’s start today.”
