It is with great sadness we announce the passing of former Mayor Jack Burrows. Mr. Burrows was Mayor of North Bay from 1995 to 2003.

Although he retired from public life in 2003, Jack remained very engaged in municipal affairs. Prior to serving the community as Mayor, Jack served as member of City Council from 1989 to 1995. Jack also served on the Hospital Commission from 1979 to 1994. More recently, Jack was a member of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation Board and a champion of community initiatives. Jack founded the Community Foundation, raising thousands of dollars for the benefit of many worthy local organizations and charities.

“Jack was a source of encouragement and sound advice for me personally. Jack was a true gentleman, kind in nature and easy to be with. A statesman in every way, a great champion of our city, and a wonderful ambassador for North Bay,” said Mayor, Al McDonald. “We have lost a real leader today.”

The administration, staff and Council of the City of North Bay extend their deepest sympathies to entire Burrows Family. Flags at City Hall have been lowered to half mast in tribute to a well-respected and much loved former Mayor. A condolence book is available at the City Hall reception desk for the public.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Elaine and the Burrows family,” said McDonald.

Information regarding arrangements is not available at this time.
