The Ministry of Natural Resources, North Bay District, is reminding area residents that Lake Nipissing remains under a flood watch.

Lake Nipissing rose seven centimetres due to overnight precipitation, and is almost at the top of its summer operating range. While no significant weather is in the forecast, very warm daytime temperatures and some rain are expected leading into the weekend. This could affect snowmelt, resulting in the lake reaching flood levels.

Lake Nipissing still has an intact ice sheet and with wind in the forecast the potential for shifting of the ice sheet may cause property damage.

The North Bay District Ministry of Natural Resources reminds area residents to take action to protect infrastructure along shorelines and in flood-prone areas and to exercise caution around water bodies and any low-lying areas.

This flood watch will be updated as conditions warrant.

Separate flood warnings have been issued for:
•Sturgeon River Watershed
•French River (below the Public Works and Government Services Canada Dams)

A watershed condition statement has been issued for:
•South River Watershed
