Hwy 11 north across from Mr. Gas closed due to sinkhole Update

North Bay OPP advise motorist that as of 5:46pm Hwy 11 north across from Mr. Gas is now open.

North Bay OPP advise motorist that Hwy 11 north across from Mr. Gas is closed as a result of a large sinkhole.

There is no detour available and the estimated duration of the closure is unknown.

Meanwhile, the North Bay Police wish to advise drivers that the detour for northbound traffic on Hwy 11N at Thibeault Hill is to use either McKeown Ave from Algonquin Ave or Hwy 17W to Gormanville Rd then College Dr then right onto Cedar Heights Rd to Hwy 11.


The south bound traffic is the reverse, Cedar Heights Rd W, left on College Dr then right on Gormanville Rd to Hwy 17. The detoured traffic in conjunction with the university and college traffic is heavy and causing delays of 15 to 20 minutes.


Indications at this time suggest the detour will be in effect for at least the next 24 hours.

Tractor trailer traffic is expected to be heavy on all these roadways and we are asking drivers to use caution and be patient.

Northbound tractor trailer traffic is asked not to turn onto Hwy 11 N (Algonquin Ave) and to use the Gormanville exit off of Hwy 17W.
