Spring cleaning typically results in a need to find a solution for unwanted clothing and household items. Kidney Clothes, a program which supports The Kidney Foundation of Canada, can help people make a clean sweep this spring.

Donation boxes are currently located at the following businesses: Vaughan Paper Product, 1598 Main Street West; Auntie Jane’s Restaurant, 3090 Hwy 11; Canadian Tire, 890 McKeown Ave.; Home Depot, 1275 Seymour St.; Good Life, 477 Main St. East; Gymtrix, 7 Ferris Dr.; and Lucky 13, 992 Airport Rd. In addition, a drop box is located at the Canadian Tire in Sturgeon Falls, 12011 Hwy 17 East.

We can also pick up donations, free of charge. Donors simply have to call the toll-free number at 1.800.414.3484 to request a pick up. The program can accept most household items like clothing, shoes, small appliances, toys and sporting goods. There are some exceptions and more information can be obtained by calling 1-800-414-3484 or visiting www.kidneyclothes.ca.

Funds from the recycling program will support The Kidney Foundation’s mission to support innovative kidney research, provide education and support to people living with kidney disease and their families, and to increase awareness about kidney health and organ donation.

The Kidney Foundation of Canada has been an active member of the North Bay community for many years, providing patient information, and running events such as the annual Kidney Walk each fall. For more information about The Kidney Foundation, visit www.kidney.ca/ontario.
