Canadore is planning for a greener future with its Earth Action Challenge Week on March 18 - 24.

With recent statistics showing that Canadian offices and households are producing more waste than any other developed country in the world, the College is encouraging more sustainable living and working within its walls.

“It is really amazing how much change we can affect by collectively making small efforts every day,” said President George Burton. “We are encouraging our students and employees to be creative, have fun and make a environmental pledge for the week…like drinking from a reusable cup, eating leftovers, using alternative transportation and planning virtual meetings to reduce the College’s carbon footprint.”

Students, employees, and the general public are all invited to post their pledges for a greener lifestyle at www.canadorecollege.ca/I-Pledge. A ballot for an environmentally-friendly prize pack will be entered for each pledge.

Canadore will also be hosting an Energy Fair on April 2 in partnership with Honeywell and various energy-conscious businesses. The fair will provide community members with an opportunity to learn more about reducing energy consumption, waste management, eco-friendly products and services available locally, and more.

Canadore provides access to over 60 full-time quality programs and has outstanding faculty and student services. Each year, approximately 1,000 graduates join a network of 39,000 alumni working around the globe.
