World Friendship Day was created by Friendship Force International five years ago as a way for its 360 clubs around the world to commemorate the organization’s birth. This year, World Friendship Day will be celebrated in March in 55 countries on six continents
The Friendship Force of North Bay received its charter on March 22, 2004. As of January 31, 2013 the Club has maintained an average of 47 to 50 registered members. The Friendship Force of North Bay provides the structure and leadership to conduct exchanges between clubs, as requested, through Friendship Force International.
The Friendship Force of North Bay is part of Friendship Force International, a global network of citizen ambassadors who travel the world in the name of friendship and goodwill. The signature program of FFI is home hospitality, where travelers are hosted in the home of someone in another country in order to experience the culture from the inside.
“It is truly a powerful experience that creates strong bonds as well as lifelong friendships,” says FFNB President Joanne Bernier.
Friendship Force International was launched on March 1, 1977, in a White House ceremony with the support of President Jimmy Carter. Since that time more than 1,000,000 people have participated in its programs.
