The Mattawa Senior Citizens Club is receiving a $13,400 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli announced today.

The funding will be used over 12 months to purchase chairs, a television, gaming system and stand up freezer and dishes.

The purpose is to enhance programming and better equip the club’s facilities to benefit its members and other users during community gatherings and events.

“It’s my hope this grant will help ensure the club will meet the needs of its members and those of the community for years to come,” said Fedeli, who joined club members in Mattawa this afternoon for the announcement.

“I also hope this will help the club continue to improve the quality of life for one of the most valuable resources Mattawa has – its seniors.”

The club was incorporated in 1977. It currently serves 223 members and has nearly 250 volunteers working to provide a caring, clean, safe and fun filled environment for seniors and community members to gather and network.
