The North Bay Police wish to advise the public that we received a complaint that the “telephone grandparent fraud” is active again.

This fraud is where a grandparent receives a phone call from a person alleging to be a lawyer from another city.

He advises that he is representing a grandchild that needs bail money otherwise the grandchild goes to jail because of a vehicle collision or some other minor infraction.

The grandparent is asked to send money usually by Western Union.

The victim in this case did not buy into it and asked so many questions that the alleged lawyer swore at her, and hung up.
