Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli has presented an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant of $40,700 to the Municipality of Callander for upgrades to the Bill Barber Complex.

Fedeli joined Mayor Hec Lavigne, members of Callander council and other local residents at the complex for Satruday’s announcement.

The funding will cover a period of 12 months. It will be used to install a sub-drain system, repair the fence posts, boards and rink surface.

These repairs will solve a frost heave issue and help to ensure individuals and groups continue to have access to this multipurpose four season outdoor rink facility for years to come.

“This complex is more than just a rink,” said Fedeli.

“It’s a four-season gathering place for the community, a place where people can come together and share in the vibrant spirit that makes Callander such a great place to live,” Fedeli said.

“Infrastructure like this is vital to maintaining strong, dynamic communities like Callander.”
