Punxsutawney Phil predicts an early spring

Saturday, February 02, 2013   by: Kate AdamsA short while ago in Gobbler's Knob, Pennsylvania Punxsutawney Phil exited his burrow and did not see his shadow which signals an early spring.

"And so ye faithful, there is no shadow to see, an early spring for you and me," announced Bob Roberts, Phil's handler.

The tradition of prognosticating groundhogs began in 1887 and legend is that if Phil had emerged from his burrow and saw his shadow, then there would be six more weeks of winter.
