City police seeking public's help with hit and run case

On the 2nd Jan at 2:00pm a man operating a motorized wheelchair eastbound on High St near Chippewa St was struck from behind by an eastbound vehicle. The man was ejected from the wheelchair. The driver exited his vehicle, asked the man if he was ok and then left the scene. The man was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The suspect vehicle is a dark blue 4 door Sunfire with tinted windows. There should be damage to right front quarter.

The driver is described as; male, white, late 20’s, moustache with a goatee, short hair, wearing a dark jacket, jeans, and smoking.

Anyone with any information about this occurrence is asked to contact Cst Jody DeHaas at 705-497-5589.

I hope the gentleman recovers quickly, but what was he doing operating the wheelchair on the road? It's not a motor vehicle and I've been lucky missing several of these folks over the past while as they power down the street apparently oblivious to the traffic around them!
