Robbery under investigation

News Release


At 5:40pm on 3rd Dec a man riding a bike on Marshall Ave E waved at a vehicle that let him cross at Marshall Pk Dr.

Two males in the truck yelled at him, threatened him, and followed him to Mulligan St. The man got off his bike and hid behind some vehicles. The males got out of their vehicle, yelled at him and chased him on foot. The males then took the man’s bicycle and left.

The vehicle is described as an older model black Dodge diesel pick up.

The driver is described as male, white, 19-22 yrs, 5’ 9” 130-140 lbs, short dark hair, wearing a white shirt.

The passenger is described as male, white, 19-22yrs, 5’9’’ 130-140 lbs, black hair, wearing a dark sweater.

Cst Richard Hampel is investigating.

Cowards indeed. Drivers in North Bay seem to have a real hate on for cyclists. Why? It's hilarious to be a cyclist, and see some of the things "mature local citizens" pull in the safety of their vehicles. If you get red in the face yelling at cyclists in the safety of your warm, locked car - It truly exposes you as a spineless wimp who abuses your powers the second no authority figures are around. Local people who care about the safety of others should really keep an eye out for the vehicle describe above. Keep in mind, a cyclist is exposed to the elements, and typically weighs about 250. A enraged driver behind the wheel of a 2000 pound killing machine is not a very nice picture of smart, educated Canadians.

I don't understand how this started. Did the truck let the cyclist cross? Why did the cyclist wave? Why did this tick off the guys in the truck? It's either a poorly written account or there's more to the story IMO
