Ontario's support for a film shoot in North Bay has strengthened the northern film industry, boosted the economy and created about 100 jobs.

With support from the province's Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), #REF! Production Ltd has shot the feature film Cubicle Warriors in North Bay. The project created jobs for local residents, who worked as extras, crew and production staff.

Investing in Northern Ontario's film industry is part of the McGuinty government's Growth Plan for Northern Ontario. A strong northern economy creates local jobs and protects the services that mean the most to families - health care and education.

Quick Facts

•The film stars Alan Thicke, Michael Seater and Joe Dinicol.

•Ontario is supporting this project through the NOHFC’s Emerging Technology Program.

"By investing in film and television projects in Northern Ontario, our government is diversifying the northern economy and helping northerners develop skills and experience in this exciting industry at home in the North."

Rick Bartolucci
Minister of Northern Development and Mines and Chair of the NOHFC

"The support of the NOHFC is essential to helping us shoot our film in the North. As a northerner producing my third film in the North, I am delighted to be able to work in our special part of the province and I look forward to bringing more projects to Northeastern Ontario in the near future."
