Ottawa man charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking

On 25 Nov at 11:30pm North Bay Police were operating R.I.D.E. when a vehicle was observed to make a u-turn, stop and a male driver get out and go into the ditch.

A subsequent check of this person located a baggie in the ditch containing what is believed to be 118 80mg oxycontin pills, 22 40mg oxycontin pills, and 10 100mg Fentanyl patches. A quantity of cash and a flick knife were also found in his possession.

The street value of the drugs is estimated at approximately $25,000.

Christopher Hewitt 27yrs of Ottawa was charged with 2 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of property obtained by crime.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
