City police caution residents about a phone scam

On 01 Nov a North Bay Woman received 2 phone calls advising her she was a big winner of a cash prize from readers digest.

She was told that she had to pay the tax on her winnings and she was asked for her debit card information which she supplied. The card has now been cancelled with no loss.

The North Bay Police want to advise the public not to give any personal or financial information to anyone by phone, computer or in person unless you initiated the contact and know who and why you are dealing with them.
