Aspin announces funding for local technology & innovation company

Jay Aspin, Member of Parliament for Nipissing-Timiskaming, attended the official opening of WipWare Inc. in North Bay. Mr. Aspin also announced a federal Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) grant for the technology & innovation company.



WipWare has been the industry leader in optical granulometry of fragmented material since 1986. The company has maintained a global reputation of excellence in software innovation and design, consistently rolling out and in-demand products providing clients with solutions to their optimization and automation needs.


“I am proud to welcome WipWare Inc. to our Northern Ontario community,” said MP Aspin. “WipWare is a strong technology & innovation leader and they will make a positive contribution to the economic and scientific environments of our region.”



WipWare has been allocated an NSERC grant for $25,000 to support a collaborative research project between themselves and Nipssing University. The existing scope of the project will see the optimization of image analysis technology for several purpose including medical “diagnostic imaging.” The project will benefit participating student researchers and potentially expand to more employment opportunities.

NSERC grants are given through the Ministry of Industry. The goals of NSERC are to advance knowledge, build prosperity through research, demonstrate the value of R&D investments, increase the visibility of research, and inspire the next generation of Canadians.
