Fedeli announces funding for Nipissing Junction upgrades

A multi-million dollar infrastructure investment by all three levels of government will improve economic development opportunities in North Bay’s Nipissing Junction area, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli said today.



Fedeli, along with Nipissing-Temiskaming MP Jay Aspin and Mayor Al McDonald were on hand for the $6 million announcement to improve and extend sewer services along parts of Lakeshore Drive and Pinewood Park Drive.



Of that money, $1 million comes from the Infrastructure and Community Development Program of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund. FedNor is providing $1.3 million, with the City of North Bay providing the balance.



This opens up 30 acres of commercial opportunities in the area.



Fedeli also stressed the Ontario PC belief that provincial gas tax money should be used for more than just transit.



“Here in Northern Ontario, our transit consists of roads, culverts, and bridge programs, and it is our belief that provincial gas tax money should be able to be used for these types of projects in Northern Ontario,” Fedeli said.
