October is Ontario Public Library Week and we are celebrating at the Library.
Every person who gets a new library card that week will receive a cloth North Bay Public Library bag (while supplies last). On Tuesday, October 16, in conjunction with the Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario – North Bay and Area and the United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts, we will be opening a Learning Disabilities Resource Centre in the library. This is the third of its kind in Canada. We will also be giving away 2 tickets daily to the NHL Alumni Game on Saturday, October 20 at Memorial Gardens. Clues will be left for patrons to find our adopted mascots Cedric and Nigel. When a patron finds them, they return them to the Adult Desk to claim their prize.
On Monday, October 22 at 6:30, De Clutter Coach Moreen Torphy will be in the auditorium explaining tricks and tips to declutter and simplify our lives. Moreen is a trained, practicing professional organizer and owner of a local business, De-Clutter Coach. She is also the author of a book “Go Forward, Downsize”. Admission is free but space is limited. Tickets are necessary and can be picked up at the adult desk.
On Wednesday, October 24 at 7:30 the auditorium will be filled with the sounds of laughter as Mabel Hernandez, owner of Dance Obsessed Studios teaches the ancient art of Belly Dance. Mabel is a dancer and certified fitness instructor. Admission is free but space is limited. Tickets are necessary and can be picked up at the adult desk.
