Canadore is bringing a piece of the country to the city by hosting a farmers’ market for students and employees every Friday throughout the month of September.

Last month the College introduced a renewed health and wellness framework with a distinct focus on students’ total health by providing a menu of collaborative choices and resources to achieve mental and physical balance throughout the academic year.

"I am so excited to be able to buy locally-grown produce right here on campus,” said Jennifer Collins, Mobile Application Development student living in residence. “I enjoy living a healthy lifestyle and it is amazing that the College is creating opportunities for me and my fellow students to access healthy alternatives and develop good habits for the future.”

Farm Fresh Fridays will feature the sale of fresh, locally-grown produce, coffee with President George Burton, music, time with Canadore’s mental health and wellness dog, Niijii, as well as cooking demonstrations by in-house Chef Derek Lawday.

"We are fortunate to live in a marvelous location that is rich in agriculture and natural products,” said Chef Derek Lawday, Coordinator of the Culinary Arts programs. “As professors, we believe wholeheartedly in farm to fork cooking and we are excited to pass along this practice and wisdom to our students.”
