Blast at rock quarry sends one employee to hospital

LOUNT TWP - On Tuesday August 14, 2012 at approximately 3:00pm police were notified of a work place related injury that occurred on Rye Road, Lount Township.

A rock quarry was undergoing some blasting when an employee of the quarry was struck with a boulder in the abdomen from the debris of the blast.

The male was taken to North Bay Regional Health Centre by ambulance with non-life threatening injures.

The Ministry of Labour has been notified.
