Marten River – Members of the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are asking members of the public to be aware of a home improvement fraudster operating in the area. To date the OPP are aware of one such complaint in the Marten River area as well as 2 others within the municipality of West Nipissing involving the same suspect.

In the reported incidents so far, the suspect has been asking for all or close to all of the agreed amount of money up front to help pay for supplies or materials, but then never showing up again.

Police want to remind the public not to provide money up front for work that is going to be completed – only once the work is completed. There are many legitimate contractors around, ask for references and follow up on them – be sure before you commit.
