The Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) continues to support United Way through its annual campaign.

United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts is currently funding eight programs in the North Bay.

With the opening of a local office, United Way’s goal is to increase the number of programs that are funded and, as a result, grow the social services available in the Nipissing community.

In 2011, across Ontario, a new record of more than $2.5 million was raised through customer and employee donations, pledges and fundraising events. The North Bay LCBOs raised over $10,000 to help support local social service programs.

“LCBO is pleased to partner with United Way. Our customers and employees continue to amaze us with their compassion and kindness helping to improve the lives of countless Ontarians, including those in the North Bay area,” says Stephen Young, LCBO District Manager, North Bay.

While United Way’s Annual Campaign takes place from September through December, the LCBO has already commenced with their fundraising efforts.

A strong supporter of the United Way, the LCBO regularly holds this campaign for two weeks in the summer and two weeks in the fall.

Customers will be invited by LCBO retail staff to donate $2, $5 or $10 to their local United Way at checkout counters.

All proceeds raised will stay in the Nipissing community.

“We would like to thank the LCBO staff and customers for their ongoing support. The money raised in North Bay has helped and will continue to help support social service programs.

Now with our office open in North Bay, we are able to further cultivate relationships with all of donors and truly thank them for their support!” said Michael Cullen, Executive Director of United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts.

Please consider supporting local United Way efforts through the LCBO’s ‘Giving Back Where We Live’ campaign running July 26 through August 11.

Your donation is greatly appreciated and goes a long way to making North Bay and area a stronger and more vibrant community.
