Mental health services in the city getting new base funding dollars

The North Bay Regional Health Centre is receiving additional base funding from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care for mental health services, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli announced Wednesday.

The base funding includes $644,800 in new base dollars for the 2011-12 fiscal year, which will annualize to $866,900 for 2012-13.

The money is to support delivery of mental health services and terms negotiated between the Ontario Medical Association and Ministry in 2008 with respect to physician payments in Divested Provincial Psychiatric hospitals.

As well, up to $88,300 in one-time funding for the 2009-10 funding year and $239,700 in one-time funding for 2010-11 is being provided.

“It’s my hope this funding will help in the delivery of quality mental health services which are so critical in the overall health care framework in Nipissing,” said Fedeli.
