Ontario Heritage Trust seeks nominations

Nipissing residents are being encouraged to consider nominations for the Ontario Heritage Trust’s 2012 Recognition Programs, MPP Vic Fedeli said today.

“This program helps celebrate the great work being done by individuals, groups and communities to preserve and promote Ontario’s cultural and natural heritage,” Fedeli
said.

“It’s my hope you’ll take the time to make sure worthy nominees in Nipissing, many of whom are volunteers, are put forward.”

The award programs include the Heritage Community Recognition Program, Young Heritage Leaders Program and Community Leadership Program. Nomination forms must
be endorsed by council motions unless otherwise noted.
The deadline for nominations is September 1.

It’s estimated there are 19 million visits to museums and heritage attractions in Ontario annually, making an economic impact of more than $4 billion.
