On Sunday July 8, 2012 at 12:56pm, an officer with the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway # 11 near Lakeshore Drive as a result of a moving violation.

During the traffic stop it was discovered that the 25 year old male driver was driving his vehicle with an open container of alcohol.

The driver was administered a roadside breath test, and while he did not exceed the legal blood alcohol concentration, he did have alcohol in his system.

The driver of the vehicle, 25 year old Mackenzie WHITE of North Bay was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with an Open Container of Liquor contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act.

The OPP want to advise and warn drivers that this type of behaviour is exactly what we will be out looking for throughout the summer and all year for that matter.

Any amount of alcohol slows driver reaction, so be prudent and responsible – and DO NOT drink while driving your vehicle – not only is it against the law; it is one of the irresponsible choices that create fatal collisions and tragedies.
