Golf cart driving brothers charged with impaired

(STRONG, TWP) On Sunday July 1, 2012 at approximately 12:30am police were called to South Lake Bernard Camp Ground to investigate a motor vehicle collision involving a parked Hyundai accent and a golf cart.

Police arrived at the camp ground and observed a male driving a golf cart.

Police stopped and spoke to the driver of the vehicle and subsequently he was arrested for impaired driving.

This driver was not involved in the collision.

Further police investigation identified the driver of the golf cart involved in the motor vehicle collision and subsequently arrested him for impaired driving.

Both impaired drivers are brothers and had been driving the same golf cart.

The golf cart was impounded for seven days.

Both brothers, Jeffrey JEWELL (43) of Bracebridge and his brother Rodney JEWELL (46) of Thornton, ON were taken to the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police Detachment and later release after being charged with impaired operation and having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Both JEWELL brothers are to appear in Sundridge Court on July 31, 2012
