The North Bay Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic will receive additional base funding from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli announced today.

The clinic on Lakeshore Drive will see up to $164,187 in additional funds beginning in the 2012-13 fiscal year.

This means up to $1,487,029 is being provided to support continued operation of the clinic.

“This is a very meaningful helping hand for a home-grown health care success story,” said Fedeli, who toured the facility earlier this year.

“During my visit, I found that the centre provides timely, quality, family-centered care and is filling a critical gap in health care delivery in Nipissing.”

The North Bay Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic opened in August of last year. Led by Leanne Whitney, staff is working their way through the list of applicants who wish to become patients.

The clinic services patients who do not have a primary health care physician and who are living with a chronic disease and/or for families with young children.

Clinic patients are offered a variety of services, which may include the services of nurses, a laboratory, wellness classes, an on-site dietitian, social worker, or pharmacist.
