The North Bay Police Service would like to wish the citizens of North Bay and Callander a safe and memorable Canada Day weekend. Members of the NBPS will be patrolling, in a number of different capacities, to ensure that everyone is safe throughout the weekend’s events. Officers will be out on bicycle and RIDE teams will be deployed throughout the area.

The public is reminded that there are a number of events, and road closures, which may cause delays in travel or the need to consider alternate routes.

On Saturday, Main Street in Callander will be a great location to view the parade that commences at 11:00 a.m. with the Parade of Lights set to go at 9:30 p.m. and fireworks to follow weather permitting.

Saturday in North Bay will be the Kids Tri and Try a Tri events which will cause some traffic restrictions in the Birchaven area, including Lavase, Lakeside, Camelot, Sage and McLean, from noon until 3 p.m.

Sunday is the Adult Triathlon with closures of Lakeside Dr. (from Lavase to Sage) from 8 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Lees Rd from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

Memorial Drive will be a great location to be on Sunday and the roadway will be closed to vehicle traffic from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. for Canada Day celebrations at the Waterfront.

The NBPS encourages the motoring public to be patient throughout the weekend and to be aware of the increased movement of families to and from these events.
