United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts Board of Directors and staff wanted to help support a northern community in need.

With the events of this past week, United Way has offered financial assistance in the sum of $10,000 to United Way Sault Ste. Marie and district’s Community Assistance Trust program.

“We may represent different communities but we are neighbours and friends. So offering this assistance was the least we could do to help Elliot Lake’s residents in need,” said Michael Cullen, Executive Director for United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts.

The Community Assistance Trust program provides assistance or referrals in the Algoma District with items or services that are emergency or extraordinary circumstances.

“We are also asking our corporate partners, friends, agencies and donors, to consider making a donation to further help residents in need. United Way will accept any donations which will be directly earmarked to the Community Assistance Trust program for Elliot Lake,” added Cullen.

We recognize that it is a long weekend and if anyone would like to donate in either Sudbury or Nipissing, we welcome them to contact Michael Cullen by email:

[email protected] or by 705-929-9892 or Katina Matheson, Community Capacity Coordinator, by email: [email protected] or by phone: 705-845-6506.
