MPP urging locals to submit works for the first annual Speaker’s Book Award

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is urging local authors and publishers to consider making a submission for the first annual Speaker’s Book Award.

Launched earlier this month, the program aims to bring awareness to books written by Ontarians covering historical, regional, cultural or parliamentary aspects of the province.

Special consideration will be given to works on Ontario’s parliamentary heritage and on provincial political discourse.

“This award is a unique way to bring more attention to the stories that help shape our province and to showcase literary talent in Ontario,” Fedeli said.

Authors and publishers across Ontario are invited to submit eligible entries by Friday, August 31.

The winner will be announced at an awards reception at the Ontario Legislature in spring 2013.

The winning book will be made available for sale at the Legislative Gift Shop and featured in the Legislative Library.
