A water bottle filler and a window farm will be the newest green features at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Catholic Secondary School in the Fall of 2012 thanks to the school’s Green Team’s fundraising and recently awarded grants.

The team was able to make the purchases thanks to $1,000 from The Metro Green Apple Grant, a $1,500 grant from the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, and extra funds from its own annual fundraising efforts. Both devices will benefit the entire school population.

The small vegetables and herbs that will be grown on the window farm will be sold to the school’s cafeteria and Hospitality program, with funds going back into the Green Team’s future projects. The bottle filler, which dispenses cold water and digitally counts and displays to users the amount of waste reduced with every use, will be installed next to the cafeteria for all students to use, with hopes to reduce plastic water bottles.
